Leshan Giant Buddha

Commissioned in 713 CE by monk Haitong to calm turbulent river waters, the Leshan Giant Buddha took 90 years to complete. This 71-meter-tall Maitreya Buddha statue reflects Tang Dynasty Buddhist devotion and engineering ingenuity.
